New Teacher Salary Scale Fiasco

School Board Chooses Books Over New Teachers

No action taken to address the inequity for new hires!

Our new teachers will be making $1,501 less than those hired last year in take-home pay as they have to pay the full 5% (about $2,222) into VRS all at once, but the school system is only raising the base salary by 1.625% (about $721).

Teachers hired in FY 2009 made $1,129 more than what our new teachers this year are scheduled to make; remember that FCPS lowered the salary scale by $400 in both FY 2010 and FY 2011 ($800 total).

Unacceptable. Period.

“Your new hires will not be forgotten or neglected.  FCFT will make advocacy for and protection of them our priority over the next year.”

-FCFT President Steve Greenburg (in response to the FCPS School Board’s ‘inaction’ on July 26th to the new hire salary / VRS contribution issue).

Talk is cheap.  We don’t just talk… we act.

FCFT has initiated a campaign to ensure our new hires are protected, advocated for, and given financial support until we get the School Board and FCPS to take responsibility for the VRS contribution issue.

FCFT Cares.

Get behind the shield.
